Big Birthday Bash!!

On Oct. 9th, Danica turned 1 years old. We had family and a few friends over to celebrate her birthday. We had appetizers to eat and of course birthday cake (that Heidi made). We gave Danica some birthday cake to eat. She actually didn't make a really big mess but she sure enjoyed the sugar. Once she was bathed and in her pj's it was birthday present opening time. By that time, the sugar was really starting to do its job. Danica was smiling and performing for everyone. Here are a few pictures to show the fun she had.

Pumpkins

Last weekend we went to a pumpkin ranch outside of the city. We bought some pumpkins and also had to get some pics of Danica with the pumpkins.

Danica is feeling much better now. She seems to be on a regular schedule at daycare also. I am still enjoying work although work is going to get a little crazy busy very soon. Tim starts work back at City Hall this Monday. He has a 6 month contract working on a different project. After the 6 months, he will be back at the water treatment plant. He will be back for perogy Thursdays. Ryan, Ange and Cora came to visit on Saturday. The girls are starting to sorta play together. Danica likes to take the toys from Cora. I think that Cora kinda felt that her personal space was being invaded. Danica really enjoys being around other kids.

I am now back to work. I started back on Monday. Danica is at a daycare now. She really likes playing with all the kids. She is only napping once a day so she is pretty tired when I go and pick her up. This week Danica got an ear infection. She ended up sleeping in bed with us. Last night Tim ended up sleeping in the basement. He took this picture in the morning when we were sleeping. I think Danica is on the mend now which is good.

Dani updates

Danica can now hold her own bottle (but prefers if someone else holds it). She hasn't really taken to a sippy cup yet. She is crawling and pulling herself up. She has heard 'no' quite a bit in the last month. Danica pulls toys out of the box. She likes to take toys out one at a time. I have really enjoyed spending the summer with her at home. I start work on August 27th and Danica will be going to daycare. Life will definitely be interesting.

Tim's holidays

Tim has holidays this week so we took the opportunity to go to Lower Fishing Lake. The weather wasn't great but it was still fun to get away from the city. As soon as we got to the cabin, we took Danica down to the water to dip her feet in. It was really windy but she seemed to really enjoy it. One wave crashed into her and soaked her shorts. I cared more then she did. It was free fishing last weekend so my Dad, Tim and I went fishing one night. Tim caught 3 fish but they were all too small to keep. Tim had fun catching them. The cabin doesn't have a bath tub so we had to use a rubbermaid tub instead. She loved her new tub. She played and splashed for a long time. She pulled herself up in the tub too. We were all proud of her. Danica is very close to crawling but just doesn't quite do it. She can go backwards but not forwards.

Splish Splash

Today Tim and I put Danica into her little baby pool to cool off. She wasn't so sure about it at first but then was happy splashing away. The pool is her size... little. It seemed to cool her off. Tim and I also got a little cooled off because of all the splashing that was going on.

Flower Baby

This past weekend was Jodie and Steve's wedding. It was a perfect day for the wedding. Danica and Cora were asked to be flower babies at the wedding. They were pulled down the aisle in a wagon. They did pretty good although Danica leaned back too far (to look at the ceiling fan in the church) and then couldn't sit back up again. She cried a little. Danica is quite tired today from the weekend so I expect she will be sleeping alot today.

Two teeth

I promised that I would post another picture of her teeth. You can see both of her bottom teeth in this picture. Last week Danica was a little more on the fussy side. I needed a few more patience.

Beaners

On Friday, Danica had her first haircut at a salon. There is a salon in Sutherland called Beaners. The salon is just for kids. Danica sat in a little jeep while she had her hair cut. I HAD to take a couple of pictures. Enjoy!

The hairdresser put some bubblegum smelling hairspray in Danica's hair. Lucky girl!!

Dani has a tooth!!

On May 31st a little tooth popped out of Danica's gums. She was in pretty good spirits considering how it must have hurt. We needed Tylonel for a couple of nights but that was all. On June 1st, her second tooth forged it's way through the gums. I only have one picture so far but I will put more on later. You can see the first tooth if you look really hard. You will likely have to put your face right up against the screen to see it. The 2 teeth are much easier to see now.

Here are a couple of pictures of what Tim was busy doing this past weekend. He was a real trooper! He worked when the sun shone and when it rained. He had no injuries (unlike poor Jeff Froese). Thanks Tim, it looks great! All I need now is a nice patio set.

Balloon crazy

Danica went to her first birthday party on the weekend. She went crazy with the balloons. Tim and I thought that she might have rabies, that's how werid she was. She just loved it. I blew up a balloon from here for her to play with at home. Here are a couple of pictures of her trying to eat the balloon. We have some video of her screaming in delight.

New shorts

Kim Martens and I went shopping for our kids a few weeks ago. I wanted to buy Danica some shorts and t-shirts for the warm weather. I had to take a picture of her in her cute new shorts. She enjoys chewing on her bare feet. Hopefully the weather will improve so that we can go for more stroller walks.

I heard a lot of good comments about the swimming pictures so I decided to add some more. Danica is still enjoying her lessons. The teacher told the parents to dunk the babies under the water. I guess you are suppose to blow in their face and then put them under. Danica didn't really enjoy that part. She swallowed some pool water. Only 2 more lessons left. I have really enjoyed watching Tim and Danica spend sometime together.

First Mother's Day

Since this is my first Mother's Day being a Mom, I had to have my picture taken with Danica. Tim bought me flowers and bought me some greasy DQ (at my request). We went to church in the morning and then in the afternoon I had a nice long relaxing nap. It was a nice day!
Danica is just over 7 months old now and is growing fast. She is rolling a lot now. She can go across a room pretty quickly (but only one way :) I'm starting to feel the pressure about finding a daycare. Yikes, time has gone by so quickly. Please let me know if anyone knows of someone who has open spots.

Our little Starfish

Danica started her first Starfish swimming lesson yesterday. I'm not sure who had more fun ... Tim or Danica. She loved looking at everyone around her. Here are some pictures of Danica having a great time. At the end of the lesson, Danica was allowed in the hot tub but only for about 5 minutes.

Cousins

Ryan, Ange and Cora spent Friday night here. I had to take a picture of the girls sitting in their carseats. There is about 3 months difference in age. At this age, there is quite a difference in size. We spent Saturday morning going to garage sales with Ryan, Ange, Jodie and Steve. The little girls did pretty good and were quite patient with us.

Florida trip

Tim and I went to Florida for 10 days. We had a great time but were ready to come home and see Danica. While in Florida, we went to Disney World and Universal Studios. The weather was great and we came back with a little more color. Tim burned his back pretty good :) We didn't really take very many pictures but here are a couple of them. My favorite ride was 'Splash Mountain' and Tim's was 'Tower of Terror' and 'Expedition Everest'. I really enjoyed all the rides but my stomach didn't enjoy them as much. I found that I had to take it easy on some of the more wild rides. Tim could handle any ride ... lucky boy :) We spent the last 3 days of our trip hanging out with Ryan and Heidi Hunt. It was a lot of fun going on rides together. I think that we went home more tired then when we left but it was still a great time.

Easter weekend

Jarred flew into Saskatoon on Friday night and stayed until Tuesday evening. My Mom and Dad came into the city on Saturday and stayed 2 nights. We had a big ham supper with the family. Malcolm also came over on Easter Sunday to eat some of Tim's favorite meat. Here is a picture of Danica with her bunny that Uncle Jarred bought for her.

6 months old!

On Easter Monday, Danica turned 6 months old. The time has gone by so quickly. She is now pretty much sitting on her own and rolling over (from front to back). No teeth yet though but some rosey cheeks. Here is a comparison from her days in the incubator (from intensive care unit) to now. She is a healthy baby which is such a blessing!

Eating Solids

On March 31st Danica started eating solids for the first time. We started her off with rice cereal. She swallowed a little food but spit out most of it. She was sure proud of herself for being able to eat with a spoon. She kept smiling throughout the whole experience.

Starting a blog

I thought that we should start a blog so that family and friends can look up updates on our family ... mostly pictures of Danica :) Now I will have to get busy and put pictures on the blog. Hope that everyone enjoys our blog!
